How does WebPub work?

WebPub works over FTP to provide an easy and secure way to install, manage, upgrade your web applications like WordPress or Drupal. With our system you can install or import any supported applications/scripts with the click of a button. We want to make it easy to create a website and keep it secure no matter where you host it.

How do automatic upgrades work?

WebPub can keep your scripts automatically upgraded so that when an update is released we can push that to your site right away. If you don't want automatic updates activated you can turn them off and set the system to alert you when an update is available. Then you can login to WebPub and upgrade it with a click of a button from there. Our upgrade process checks to ensure the upgrade was error free, and we have done a lot of work on the backend to ensure no problems for your websites.

What features are you working on next?

We are currently implementing support for themes and plugins so that users can keep those secure and up to date. Plus we are building a marketplace that will allow users to browse free and premium themes from sellers and install them with just a single click. The marketplace will be open and support a wide array of scripts like WordPress, Magento, and others. You can also suggest and vote on features you would like here.

Do you have more information on the underlying technology?

We spent over a year building and refining the technology that runs WebPub. We call the backend system Atlas and it is an API based system that sits on top of FTP and allows us to do a huge variety of things over FTP and other methods.
